OLW14 - Square/Outline

Hi y'all -
First, a Marty update: she was scheduled for a second transfusion today, but her numbers went up and she didn't need one - hooray! She'll still undergo some bone marrow testing tomorrow, though. I'm beginning to think I'm nuts - she's fine, no - she's sick, no - she's fine. Big roller coaster for a tiny cat.

Speaking of tiny cat, I used one for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge -- make a square card using an outline stamp with little or no coloring. Here's what I came up with:

Yep, it's a girl holding a tiny cat. I used some very limited blender-pen watercoloring to make the kitty look a little like Marty, and to give the girl (who looks nothing like me!) a little detail as well.  That stamp was designed by Suzi Blu to benefit A Place to Bark in TN, a really great-sounding no-kill shelter (for cats, too!) I first heard about from Lydia Fiedler (UnderstandBlue on SCS) -- she designed a stamp too, as did Claudine Hellmuth. I have all three -- you can check them out and/or get them here.

I really like the way this turned out -- minimal coloring and all!  Here's a close-up:

Rustic Cream cardstock and the sentiment are from PTI, colors are early espresso, pear pizazz, blushing bride, and river rock from SU. I think I'll see if I can somehow send it to the cat who was the donor for Marty's first transfusion.

Thanks for taking a peek! Have a lovely day, and wish us luck tomorrow!

Hooray for Marty getting her levels up all on her own! I hope the bone marrow testing goes smoothly tomorrow and they can finally figure out what is wrong. Or maybe we're all nuts and she'll be fine tomorrow.

I totally did not even think of the fact that a blood transfusion would involve a donor cat. Is there a cat on-call for this? Do they have a blood drive at the local cat office, and does it involve free t-shirts and cookies? Or is it just college cats who do it for some easy money? Do cats have blood types like humans? So many questions!!!

In card news, love your sweet little girl and her sweet little kitty! You added just the perfect amount of subtle coloring. Love both fonts on the sentiment, too. I bet if you wore green striped tights, your legs would look just as skinny!

I'm so glad I'm not the only member of the Secret Paul Rudd Fan Club, but are you part of the Clueless Founder's Circle of the Paul Rudd Fan Club (aka CFCPRFC)? ;)

Love the simplicity of the card. So glad to hear Marty could skip the second transfusion. It is a crazy roller coaster when a pet is sick. Years back we had a cat with eye problems who had to go to a feline ophthalmologist - didn't know such a profession even existed!

Your card is just adorable, Angela. Sorry to hear that your cat is sick...our pets are like family. Hope he's feeling better soon. Love your sweet card.

Aw, how adorable! I love that image and it would be so sweet for you to send it to the owner of the cat who donated blood to Marty. Your emotional roller coaster ride does not sound like fun at all but it's nice when things are looking up. I really hope the bone marrow test isn't too painful for Marty tomorrow! Hugs from all of us, especially Pit'r.

What a sweet card...and sweet purpose for sending it!

I hope Marty is feeling better. That roller coaster is VERY familiar, as you know. And thanks so much for the card and die cuts you sent. Hope to play with them today!
