A Week of Challenges, day two

Back again with another challenge card -- this time for the Play Date Cafe. Here's the inspiration image:

While this set of colors would indeed make for a cool Halloween card, I went birthday instead:

This tag is for my mom, who has a birthday coming up later this week. She always gets tags, because she like to hang them all up in one of their kitchen windows. Cute!  Another special fact about this card: it uses all stamps that she and my dad (who are we kidding -- she does the shopping in their house!) got me for my birthday a few weeks ago. She picked well!! The stamps are from a couple of the Studio Calico by Hero Arts sets that I've been drooling over at Scrappy Chic. My eyeballs see the challenge colors as lime (A.Muse studio ink), Purely Pomegranate (old SU), and Dusty Concord (Distress), paired with black and some Honeydew twine (the Twinery)

Ooh, how about a bonus tag! This one is also for my mom, who is a huge Detroit Red Wings fan (Huge, people. It's scary):

I stuck it in her mailbox as a surprise last week, when the official hockey season kicked off. The stickers are from my stash, the octopus is from Paperworks and gets pulled out once a year just for this purpose ;). The back of the tag reads "Go Wings!" Yep, she liked it.

I have a bit of bad news, too -- my dad, who might not do the shopping but instead is self-employed as an awesome all-around fixer/painter/renovator/Bill-of-all-trades, just got his work truck stolen. With all his tools and equipment inside. From the street in front of their house. And insurance won't cover the loss. Boo!! That really stinks. I'd like to help him out somehow, but I think he won't take assistance from his own child, y'know? Any tips for sneaking Home Depot gift cards into his pocket or paintbrushes into his mailbox are welcome!

Anywho, if you'd like to play along with these colors, the challenge closes at the end of the day today. Happy creating, and have a lovely day!

Love those stamps, especially the octopus, how perfect for a Red Wings fan! So sorry to hear about the stolen truck, can't believe insurance won't help. On second thought, I do believe that, grrrrrr.

Both of these tags are *so* cool! That was so sweet of your parents to get you the fab HA/SC stamps. The hockey tag is hilarious and perfect! Glad she liked it. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Reading that insurance wouldn't cover it kind of makes me wonder why we even have insurance.(?) I'd go with the g.c....I think men are pretty particular about their tools. Hopefully he can write off the loss on his taxes to recoup some of the $. :(

What, you don't need an octopus image year-round? How perfect for the beginning of Red Wings season. The first tag is so nicely designed, especially with the touches of honeydew twine.
That's rotten about your dad's truck, and especially that his insurance can wriggle out of covering the loss!

Only you would have an octapus stamp! lol. Love your tags and your stamping techniques.
Sorry to hear about your Dad's tools. I say try and see if their house insurance will cover it?? Hopefully the insurance will cover his vehicle at least!!

WHAT?! Mean people suck. Sometimes I get "gifts" that I can't use and don't have a receipt so then I just give them to someone that could use them. Didn't I hear you talking about that drill you got for your birthday?

Oh, no, wait, you did say you got stamp for your birthday, and I definitely would not be returning these! This totally makes me want to make tags so my mom would be forced to hang them up, too. Especially if they involved the cutest pennant stamps ever! Plus totally loving that font.

Sports dork here: octopi have wings?

LOVIN' this birthday card! With regards to the MEANY who stole your dad's truck and how to help him out--what about doing a 12 days of Christmas thing and give him one each day?!

Ok, that hockey tag is totally awesome. Glad you finally found an excuse to use that stamp! LOL Love seeing the new Hero Arts stamps on the birthday tag, too.

That totally sucks about your Dad having his truck stolen! That's just wrong. I guess you're going to have to make some cards 'from a grateful customer' and leave them here and there with a gift card or two. Or maybe have a 'supply party' with some of your awesome pies and hide gift cards inside them. ;D
