New York, clean and simple

A little CAS action -- This week's Clean and Simple challenge on SCS was to make New York-inspired cards. How could I not use this lovely stamp? Not only is it a cityscape and shaped like a skyscraper, it's even from the MOMA store (thanks to Andrew for a thoughtful stocking stuffer!). Stamped it, cut it out, popped it up. Not much else to add!
In it: stamp from the MOMA store, sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms. PTI cs.

And my favorite:

Audrey on her own would do, but Breakfast at Tiffany's? Perfect.
In it: Stampsmith and PTI stamps, AC ribbon. Brilliance Lightning Black ink.

You can also find these in my SCS gallery - there's a link on the right.

Thanks!

Scrap-a-thon

Well, I certainly caught up on making stuff at the Scrappy Chic crop on Sunday! I whipped up four layouts and five cards. Yep, pretty productive. It helped to have some good, creative company too -- in the form of Liz! She made a couple really cool layouts, too!

Well, on with the show. Here's the first:
In it: American Crafts, MME Lush and Studio Calico paper, along with some vintage ledger paper from my stash; MME Lush brads, American Crafts stamps and thickers, KI alphas, and some other stuff.

Next up:
Oh, I love this photo -- one of my all-time favorites!
In it: Jillibean Soup papers and dotty kraft cs, Cosmo Cricket journaling element, American Crafts Dear Lizzy thickers, some trim, half-pearls, etc.

Number 3:

Cute kitties! Oh, and thanks to Liz for help on the title! In it: Cosmo Cricket paper, tiny type and chip alphas; Jillibean Soup journaling sprouts, Jenni Bowlin buttons, May Arts ribbony stuff.

And finally:
The simplest of the bunch, and my fave! In it: American Crafts everything -- Dear Lizzy paper and (awesome!) adhesive fabric paper, plus a few goodies of my own.
Here's a close-up of the sun, made with some of the fabric, minus the paper/adhesive side:
And, just for kicks, here's how the photo shoot went....

Curious star of the layout returns!

One more, and then I'm really, really done:
Made a stack 'o cards with my scraps -- the top one is my fave.

Thanks for checking it all out!

savin' it all up!

I haven't really made anything this week, which is totally odd for me. Well, nothing I can post, anyway. I did finish up my submissions for the PaperCrafts Stamping Royalty contest and sent them off, though. (good luck to me!!)
Tomorrow I get let out all that energy and catch up on creativity at Scrappy Chic -- my first crop! How exciting.  I'll be hanging out with Liz, too, so I'll have some company :)
I'm trying to rig up some carrying contraptions for my supplies. Since I've never taken my craftiness outside the house, it's never been necessary before! My solution involves a vintage (ok, old) suitcase, fabric scraps, and hot glue. If it works, I'll take and post photos.

More flying...

Having some fun with new Cosmo Cricket and Papertrey goodies:

Here's what's in it: Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety paper, Papertrey Ink stamps, some other stuff.
Enjoy! Thanks.

Cards with a purpose!

Besides the just-because cards below, I had a few other card-related tasks.
First: An anniversary card. Yep, it looks like a St. Patrick's day card...but when folks get married on St. Patrick's Day, this is what comes out! The greens all coordinate irl, though here they kinda look funky.

Stuff: Luck of the Irish and Fillable Frames #1 stamp sets, medium scallop and Fillable Frames #1 die, Green Tea Leaves paper, Spring Moss cs and ink, Ripe Avocado ink, Vintage cream grosgrain -- all from Papertrey Ink. Old Olive CS from SU.

Next: Sorry this one's a little blurry... I guess the camera didn't feel like focusing, and this one's already mailed off...It's a bday card for a little buddy who's turning 5 today.

Stuff: Cosmo Cricket and Sassafrass paper, Greetings, Earthling stamps (SU), Paper Source HB stamp, other random stuff.

And finally, just because they were too pretty:
It must be spring -- my crocuses are blooming! Even the bees are happy!

Thanks!

Cards, just because

Over the weekend, I made a little stack of cards. These here are just for fun...

First: this delightfully CAS (Clean and Simple) card, inspired by a 1953 edition of the MacMillan handbook I found on the "free" table at work. Yes, it's a literal interpretation, but I just love grey and yellow together!!
Stuff: Going grey cs, plus scraps of summer sun and black (all probably Stampin'Up); stamp from Papertrey Ink's Daily Designs Sentiments.

Next up: a quick and fun card using a new stamp from American Crafts -- their Dear Lizzy line has gloriously fun stamps! No sentiment at all on this one...I guess I'll add one once I know where it's going. The embossing is from a new folder I picked up from my old pals at Scrappin' and Stampin' -- I'm so sad they're going out of business! I've been shopping there since I first picked up a stamp.

Stuff: Kraft and Olive and white cs; Labels 6 (?) die, AC Dear Lizzy stamp, copic and SU markers, Papertrey Ink ribbon, Cuttlebug ef

Thanks!

Seriously, another post?!

Ok, last one today, I swear!
This completes the design team catch-up:
First, a very quick layout using Sassafrass's Cherry Delight collection. I love making Polaroid-style photos :)

Oh, I love a well-made coffee drink! If you're ever in Grand Rapids, please go to Madcap Coffee. So good. Supplies are mostly Cosmo's Material Girl, grunged up with glimmer mist and distress paint.

Finally, a card that's actually new -- not a stamp on it, either, which is rare for me! It's all from Cosmo's Garden Variety, and the ribbon is actually upcycled from a gift bag. Love the charm of machine sewing!

All are (or will be, soon) in the gallery at Scrappy Chic.
Enjoy!

Some slightly older stuff

So this blog is new, and I have all kinds of things I could post from my vast paper-obsessed archives, but here are a few of the more recent items:

My first layout as a design team member. (Reminisce Unwritten papers)

One using a super-easy photo collage (created using Picasa) (Reminisce Unwritten papers)

A few super-cute photos of our godson. (Reminisce again, plus some Tim Holtz stamps)

And a super-quick one-layer card utilizing masking and a super-big butterfly stamp from Unity. I pulled the colors from the rumply flower-like accent I made from some scraps of paper and ribbon.

All are in the Scrappy Chic gallery.

Enjoy!

I can fly!

Or I could in 1981, anyway:

Had some fun with this one -- lots of different papers and machine stitching here! I finally figured out a way to use We R Memory Keepers' 12x12 stitched cs on 8.5x11 layouts -- just punch circles from the fun edges! The other papers are from Jenni Bowlin (floral), Cosmo Cricket (the supremely fun Garden Variety line), and We R Memory Keepers (the houndstooth fun stuff). Those pennants are part of a Sassafrass sticker, and all those other embellishments are from all over the place!

Ok, though, what's really fun here is that photo, no? That's tiny me in the Tweety Bird slippers, and I can totally remember standing on my dad's hands like that!  Gotta love our living room, too!
Sometime soon, you can find this layout in the gallery at Scrappy Chic.
Enjoy!

A Card from an Oops...

Hi there -
Here's a card:
I like it! I think it's cute and quirky. It wasn't supposed to be a card, though! That lovely panel with the houndstooth and the floral corner all popped up was originally going to be part of a layout...but I just couldn't make it work!  Dig it as a card, though.
The dress form and frame are from Girls' Paperie (The frame is actually a rectangle, but I trimmed it down), and the sentiment is from Crafty Secrets -- a cute set called Office 101. Hit 'em with some quick Copic work (I have no patience for coloring if it isn't quick!), which actually works very well on kraft cs.
This card is on display in the gallery at Scrappy Chic, where you can find most of the supplies to make your own.
Enjoy!

Manly-ish

Here's another page from the weekend:

This one uses some very man-friendly papers from Scrap Within Reach. The argyle-ish pattern on the left is actually trimmed from a different sheet and layered over the dotty pattern. I like how the noteblock has the same pattern, only on the other side. Ah, the mirror image.
The photos are accented nicely by a transparency from Little Yellow Bicycle -- it was 12" long, so I trimmed off one of the frames to make it work.
Other supplies: Adirondack/Ranger paint dabbers, jillibean soup alphas, Unity stamp, ribbon from the stash.
Thanks for taking a look! You can also find this page in the gallery at Scrappy Chic.
a

Here I go!

I guess it's about time...
So, without further ado, here's a little something I made over the weekend:

My sweet Dexter girl, in a pre-digital age photo. That lovely paper is from We R Memory Keepers, and what you can't see in the photo is the shiny accents - the birds, butterflies, and leaves all have a nice sheen!
I really wanted to pick up on the turquoise with my accents, so I painted some white Thickers with a bit of acrylic paint, added a few Cosmo Cricket buttons and a touch of bling. The images on the left are from Unity Stamps.
You can catch this layout at Scrappy Chic -- just click on the Gallery/DT link at the top.

Thanks!
