Howdy!
Today's One-Layer Wednesday challenge at Susan's Simplicity blog is to use faux embellishments -- stamps that imitate dimensional embellishments. No layers, no actual dimension - just one layer and ink!
I looked in vain to find a little Technique Tuesday set full of cute little stitch images, but once I gave up, I thought, "Fabric"!
So, I grabbed my good old Bella Toile background stamp from SU, plus Say it with Style from Papertrey (again!). Here's the result:
Both of these babies are 3.5x5 -- that way, I don't have to stamp the background quite as carefully :)
The one on the left came first - black and riding hood red (my favorite red ink by far!). Then I cleaned off my stamp and went at it again with Lemon Tart from Papertrey and Not Quite Navy from SU. I got a surprise after stamping -- the yellow turned out peach! Kind of a gradation of peach, actually. Apparently my stamp scrubber itself needs a cleaning -- it didn't quite get the red out :)
So, peach it is. Probably my least favorite color. Can't win every time! It's still kinda pretty, though.
Thanks for stopping by! You should play along, too -- good times abound.

Love these cards!
They remind me of my oh so treasured Anna Griffin wood BG stamps. I'm surprised I haven't worn them out as I've used them so much. I adore these simple types of cards - they speak volumes about design and permit the viewer to imagine they see even more.
Very classy, very elegant and very pretty! You've inspired me to play along :)
How pretty! Great job - elegant and stunning!
Oh, those "mistakes" of inking can yield the prettiest results, as I have found from experience! I love the peach one! Well, both are absolutely beautiful!
Great cards :)
I picked up my DT package and its so great.... all things I would pick out for myself so I can't wait to get working on it!
Thanks again!
Beautiful cards! That background stamp is just gorgeous and doesn't need much added to it at all!
I too love the 'peach' but the red is awesome as well! Love how simple these cards are!!
I love fabrics and this looks awesome.
Love that fabric look! Great cards!
Great idea to create the look of fabric! I love your happy mistake!
Great cards, I bet the peach looks fab, what a happy accident! Love that toile stamp and the bold sentiments go really well with it.
Beautiful background stamp - smiled at the thought of the new colour for you.. that's when I know it is time to clean my cleaning system out too!
Wow, your cards look so rich! I love that peachy colour!
